The Faces Behind the Fabrication

For me, creativity has always been about more than just the finished product—it’s about the connection made during the process.
My journey as a maker is deeply intertwined with my life as an educator and a mother.
With a Master’s Degree in Educational Technology from Michigan State University and a 20+ year career as a Special Education teacher, currently with Gratiot-Isabella RESD, I’ve spent over 30 years learning how to make complex ideas accessible, inclusive, and engaging for everyone.
Our Story: From Garage to Community Hub
During a brief respite in my career to focus on being a mom to my own "fab five," I re-ignited my interest in crafting with a table saw, a vinyl cutter, and used palettes, starting my own small business in the Whimsical Party Gallery in St. Johns. My family helped me grow my inventory and clientele. From there, my hobby grew into a business, and I have been consistently focused on how I can help individuals and families engage their creativity and tell their own stories through crafting.
The Vision: Inclusion & Innovation
After a brief "hibernation" to renovate and reimagine our new inspirational home, moving from St. John's to Mount. Pleasant, Fab Five Design is back with a dual purpose:
-
The Studio Experience (Create. Make. Connect.): We offer four entry-points into the experience of crafting: the DIY maker, the artisan, the project reserve, and the master workshop. We are all creatives, and this multi-tiered approach invites everyone to find their niche and experience the power of making.
-
Custom Design Services (From Concept to Creation): Backed by over 8 years of specialized laser fabrication experience, I work directly with local businesses, university groups, and families to bring intentional visions to life. Whether it's a corporate logo, a university fundraiser, or a sentimental handwriting engraving, we treat every project with the care of a family heirloom.
Our Commitment to You
We are passionate about sustainability, upcycling, and eco-friendly art. We believe that high-quality, professional handmade work should be accessible to our local community in ways that invite you into the process—not just something you order from a distant online marketplace or faceless, corporate conglomerate.
We have been overwhelmed by the support of our local leaders and neighbors in Mount Pleasant. As we grow our roots here, we invite you to join us—whether it's to master a new skill in the studio or to let us fabricate a legacy piece for your home or business.
Welcome to Fab Five Design.
Let’s make something amazing together.
Your vision. Our Craft.
